conducted the ISTE Sponsored Webinar on “Role of IoT and Sensors for Sustainable Smart City
Applications”
on 27th February 2021. Ms.R.Revathi, AP (Sr.G), Department of EEE,
KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology welcomed the gathering and the Head
of the Department, Dr. V. Kumar Chinnaiyan, Department of EEE, KPR Institute of
Engineering and Technology, felicitated the function, Dr. M. Akila, Principal,
KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, also delivered the inaugural
address and Dr. A.M. Natarajan, Chief Executive, KPR Institute of Engineering
and Technology presided over the function. The resource person for the webinar
was Er.A.R.Aruneshwar, Embedded Developer, Sai Incubation Centre, Coimbatore,
delivered the lecture on Introduction to IoT and Smart Sensors in the forenoon
session. The resource person gave the brief explanation about the IoT based
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Micro Grids and its Challenges. He
shared his project experience related to IoT in smart city applications, which
was very much helpful to the participants to proceed further research work. He
gave many ideas on how to proceed the research work with the help of Hardware
and Software tools in the afternoon session. The sessions are very interactive
and responsive, gave excellent technical inputs towards the queries from the
participants. On the day two, Prof.G.Saravanan, AP (Sl.G), Department of EEE,
KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore handled the sessions on
IoT in Electric Vehicle (EV) applications in the forenoon session. He also delivered
the session on Relevance to Industries in Coimbatore and Employment Opportunities
in the field of IoT in the next session. Prof.J.Sevugan Rajesh, Assistant
Professor, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil, delivered
the session on IoT based Smart Home Automation and Healthcare Applications in
the afternoon session. Nearly 95 participants from various organizations
attended the webinar program. The co-ordinators of the program Prof. R. Revathi,
Assistant Professor (Sr.G) and Prof. C.J. Vignesh, Assistant Professor, Department
of Electrical & Electronics Engineering made all the necessary arrangements
for the smooth conduct of the program. The program was concluded with the
feedback session. Prof. C.J. Vignesh, delivered the vote of thanks.
