Webinar on Environmental Sustainability through Resource Conservation Measures
The Department of Civil Engineering of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology conducted webinar on “World Standard Day 2020 with a theme : Protecting the Planet with Standards : Environmental Sustainability through Resource Conservation Measures” in association with IEI, Coimbatore local Centre on 16th November 2020 at 11.00 am. The Webinar is mainly focussed on the Energy Conservation Measures and measures to take to conserve the Environment. The webinar is based on the theme ‘protecting the planet’ by conserving the Envirinment.
The speaker delivered the content elaborately and focussed on the future goals to conserve natural resources.The Chief Guest Mr.K. Anil Kumar, Empanelled Speaker – PCRA(Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas) and Ex- Senior Marketing Manager – BPCL, gave a brief presentation on Environmental Sustainability through Resource Conservation Measures. Higher economic growth is necessary to reduce the level of poverty and improve the living standard of population. But higher economic growth requires greater use of natural resources and environment which in turn leads to their degradation and eventual decay.
Increased population pressure on natural resources also contributes to their degradation. Hence, higher growth may not necessarily lead to sustainable development unless it is accompanied by environmental protection. An efficient demand management policy by emphasizing conservation and prudent use of environment can also increase the supply of reserves.Totally 105 Participants in YouTube live attended this webinar.
