Outcome
Around 48 students from various Engineering colleges were attended and got trained in 3D Printing and 3D scanning technology. They were really interested and motivated to learn further about this technology. This workshop helps to improve the visibility of CoE-3D printing lab among many institutes.
Summary
A One-day Hands-on Workshop on “3D Printing and 3D Scanning” was organized by CoE- 3D Printing Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering on 04.11.2022 between 09.30am to 04.15pm at 3D Printing Laboratory. Dr. M. Kumar, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering, KPRIET and Mr. P. Arunkumar, Assistant Professor (Sr.G), Mechanical Engineering, KPRIET, consented to be the guest speaker and handled the sessions. Around 48 students from various Engineering college had attended the session. The detailed schedule of Workshop is given below: 9.30am to 11.00am Ø  3D Printing– Introduction Ø  Steps in 3D Printing process Ø  Additive Manufacturing Techniques – Classification, Materials for 3D Printing, Process parameters and selection, Post-processing Requirements and Techniques 11.15am to 12.45pm Ø  Demo on FDM 3D printer Ø  Demo on DLP resin 3D printer Ø  Hands on experience on FDM 3D printer, DLP resin 3D printer 02.00pm to 3.00 pm Ø  Introduction to 3D Scanner & Reverse Engineering Ø  Demo on 3D Scanner and post processing 03.15 pm to 04.15pm - Hands on experience on 3D Scanning, post processing and printing 04.15pm to 04.30pm - Feedback and Certificate distribution.
The resource persons have explained about 3D printing, 3D scanning and reverse engineering applications. They trained the students with demonstration of FDM and DLP 3D printer. Also they gave hands on experience about 3D scanner with detailed post processing steps.  Further, They interacted and clarified the doubts raised. The participants was so curious about learning 3D scanner and they are motivated to work further in the field of 3D Printing technology.
