Summary

Lecture Series I on “Towards better practices in Geotechnical Engineering” was organized by Department of Civil Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore in association with Indian Geotechnical Society on 8th February. The main aim of the International webinar is to make the students aware on the better practices in Geotechnical Engineering. Dr. G. Anusha, Professor & Head, Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the gathering. Dr. Elias B Sayah, Director, Region 10, ASCE, Er. Narasimha Chary Poloju, President ASCE India Section Southern region felicitated the programme.

Dr. G L Sivakumar Babu, Governor Region 10, ASCE 2014-2020, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) – Bangalore addressed the gathering on work flow in geotechnical projects and the challenges in practice, thrust areas, design challenges measures of safety and performance, application of geosynthetics, innovative approaches and opportunities in geotechnical engineering. And He cleared the doubts raised by the students. Finally Mr. S. Elavarasan, Assistant Professor/Civil, Coordinator of the programme proposed the vote of thanks. Total of 30 faculty and 121 students from five different states attended the programme.
