HANDS ON TRAINING ON REBAR DETAILING, KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

Students get explore in the column layout ,Plinth beam ,floor slab and beam layouts, Rebar detailing for slab ,beams, columns and footings .They are able to detail the RC drawings, taking estimation and bar bending schedule. It will be useful for their placements.

Department of Civil Engineering and BIM centre of Excellence organized the hands on training on Rebar detailing for third year students. Around 15 students participated in this hand on training. Ms.Kavitha.R explained about the detailing of reinforced concrete slab and various RCC elements. She taught  how the detailing of RCC building has been done as per the IS code and SP 34 .She explained the specification of CPWD rates and estimation was calculated using Excel sheets .she showed various softwares available for detailing and estimation. She demonstrated the input details given in the software. She discussed about the specification of earthwork excavation,backfilling,Disposal and how to take PCC,RCC,Formwork and reinforcement details She explained about the roles and responsibilities of rebar detailer in the organization. Student learned  to create detailing and fabrication shop drawings more precisely for a various concrete structures. Students learned to produce schedules and material takeoffs automatically from drawings, or export them to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word softwares. She explained about the  customizable detailing and shop drawing styles to more freely adjust the look of final shop drawings with customizable styles for engineers and drafters. She has given project for students. Students has completed their projects with so enthusiastic .Students have asked various doubts and Mrs . Kavitha clarified their doubts .At the end of the session, Students get explore in detailing the RC drawings, taking estimation and bar bending schedule .It will be useful for their placements. Students has given excellent feedback about the session and requested this type of session in future.
