About me
Dr. Bavya Devi K, is a Material Chemist & Resourceful Researcher, currently working as an Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry and Centre for Research & Development at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She received her M.Sc in Chemistry from the University of Madras, in 2008. After that, she obtained her Ph.D in the Department of Chemistry, Anna University Chennai and carried out her research collaboratively with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Mumbai. During her Ph.D she was awarded National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi, India. Later, she joined as a Post-Doctoral researcher in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, West Bengal, in 2015 and carried out the extensive in vitro research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America. Dr. Bavya has more than 14 years of research experience in the field of Material Science. Dr. Bavya’s research interests primarily focused on the development of new bio-degradable materials that supports the bone regeneration and improves human health. Her research expertise includes the in vitro and in vivo animal experimentation of magnesium-based ceramics, metals, polymers, bioactive glass as bone graft substitute, drug delivery system in osteomyelitis, coated implants in bone tissue engineering, dental implants, acellular cartilage graft and bone marrow nucleated cells in wound healing. On the basis of her research accomplishment, Dr. Bavya has received Young Scientist award, Pre-Eminent Scientist award, Best E&I Cell Coordinator award and nine best paper awards in both national and international conferences. She has written 1 book chapters and published around 25 international research articles and presented several scientific articles in national and international conferences. Dr. Bavya has supervised/supervising several under grad, post graduate and Ph.D students. She is the reviewer of number of journals like Acta Biomaterialia, Journal of Material Research and ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering. She has delivered several invited and contributed presentations in various national and international symposia, national institutes and labs.
