Dr. S. Dharani Kumar is an Assistant Professor III in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University. He completed his M.E. in CAD/CAM from Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Anna University, securing First Class with Distinction and Gold Medal. He earned his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from CSI College of Engineering, Anna University, with First Class with Distinction (CGPA: 8.7).With over 10 years of academic and research experience, his areas of expertise include Mechanical Behaviour of Materials, Ballistics, Fatigue and Fracture, Impact Engineering, Friction Stir Welding, Composite Materials, and Advanced Manufacturing. Dr. Dharani Kumar has published more than 37 SCI-indexed journal articles, along with book chapters, patents, and conference papers. His research has received over 500 citations with an H-index of 12. He has received several recognitions, including the Best Outgoing Student Award, Gold Medal for academic excellence, the Teaching Excellence Award, the Best Implementation Award from IIT Bombay's e-Yantra Innovation Challenge, and the Certificate of Appreciation from Anna University for publishing high-impact Q1 journal papers.

  • Received a research grant of ₹1,00,000 as Principal Investigator from Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) 2.0, Ministry of Education, Government of India, through the National Coordinating Institute, IIT Delhi, for the Technology Development project titled "Advanced Irrigation System with IoT" (Project No. RP-03525G) in 2024. The project focuses on developing an IoT-enabled smart irrigation system for sustainable agriculture through real-time monitoring and automated irrigation control.
