Dr. Shankar’s research interests are focused on Photocatalysis, Electrocatalysis, Advanced Functional Materials, and Critical Mineral Recovery and Recycling for energy and environmental applications. His research involves the development and understanding of advanced materials and sustainable processes for energy conversion, environmental remediation, and resource recovery.
He has over 6 years of post-doctoral research experience at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), Israel, and the University of Bologna, Italy. His current research activities explore materials-based and sustainable approaches to address emerging energy and environmental challenges, with particular emphasis on photocatalytic water treatment, photovoltaic materials, electrocatalytic energy conversion, fuel cell applications, and the recovery and recycling of critical minerals from end-of-life products and secondary resources.
