About

The Centre for Internet of Things has been established in the year 2020, it incorporated e-Yantra lab (hosted by IIT Bombay) in the year 2021 through expanding its activities in embedded systems and robotics.

The centre has been revamped as the Centre for Internet of Things in the year 2022 in collaboration with American Megatrends International India Private Limited, towards upgrading itself as the Centre of Excellence on Dynamic Firmware Engineering.

To facilitate the culture of learning through experimentation/practice and solve real problems with the help of technology.

Mission
Role of American Megatrends International India Private Limited (AMI)

AMI provide training on embedded technology for the pre-selected students and to have the recruits more exposed to industry requirements. Provide internship opportunities in firmware for computer systems, embedded systems, cloud service, industrial IoT, automotive enterprise, edge computing and so on.

Role of e-Yantra

It provides platform to design, develop, program and test robots to various applications. Provide training to the students in embedded systems and micro-controller programming. Provide opportunity to participate in e-Yantra competitions and encourage to use robots to solve real life problems.

Fire bird V ARM7 LPC2148 Robot

The Fire Bird V ARM7 LPC2148 Robot provides an excellent environment for experimentation, algorithm development and testing. Its modular architecture allows you to control it using multiple processors such as 8051 and ARM7 etc. Modular sensor pods can be mounted on the platform as dictated by intended applications. Precision position encoders makes it possible to have accurate position control. Platform can be upgraded to tank drive, Hexapod or any other desired form very easily. It is powered by high performance rechargeable NiMH batteries.

Fire bird V ATMEGA2560 Robot

FIRE BIRD V ATMEGA2560 Robot will help you get acquainted with the world of robotics and embedded systems. It has the innovative architecture and adoption of ‘Open Source Philosophy' in its software and hardware design, anyone can be able to create and contribute too, complex applications that run on this platform, helping all to acquire expertise in the platform. A 2.4GHz, ZigBee module provide secure and multi-channel wireless communication up to a range of one kilometre line of sight.

Spark V Robot

Spark V robot is based on ATMEGA16A microcontroller. Robot comes with rechargeable 7.2V 600mA NiMH Battery and onboard intelligent battery charger. It has 3 analog white line sensors, 3 analog IR Proximity sensors, 3 directional light intensity sensors, battery voltage sensing, TSOP1738 IR receiver for TV remote control and Position encoders. Robot has support for 3 MaxBotix EZ series ultrasonic range sensors. It also has support for the servo mounted sensor pod which can be used to make 180 degrees scan for the map making. Robot is powered by 6 cell 7.2V 600mA rechargeable NiMH batteries which gives about 30 minutes battery operation. Robot has built-in Smart Battery Controller which charges the battery in intelligent way and also monitors the battery charge level when robot is in operation. Robot has 2x16 alphanumeric LCD, Lots of LED indicators for quick debugging, Buzzer etc. Motors are controlled by L293D motor driver. Robot gives top speed of 15cm to 20cm per second depending on the model.


Activities

e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC): Facilitates the students to enjoy Project-based learning in developing a solution to a real-world problem. Teams selected for participation receive free robots, accessories and training materials.

Nearly 6 batches are participating in e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) 2021-2022.

e-Yantra Innovation Challenge: A contest that trains you in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, platform to exhibit solutions to potential incubators and encourage startup culture.

Nearly 48 batches are participating in e-Yantra Innovation Challenge (eYIC) 2021-2022.

One team from ECE has been shortlisted for e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) 2021-2022.

Mr R.T. Amudhan from Second Year ECE has been shortlisted for the yantra Summer Internship program(e-YSIP 2022) under the yantra Project in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay. Duration 7weeks with Honorarium of 15000/- along with Internship certificate
