Electric Circuits Laboratory

About

The Electric Circuits laboratory is a unit of the Electrical and Electronics Department, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. This laboratory will enable undergraduate students to learn the basic concepts and techniques in electric circuits, basic home appliances and home automation systems.

The objective of this laboratory is to learn the fundamentals of electrical appliances and be able to use the laboratory space to use different sensors and controllers. This will facilitate home automation in a better way. Students learn the first year Engineering Studio subject in this laboratory. In order for students to build their own circuits, it helps them to understand the basic fundamentals of various types of electronic components. Comprises basic trainer kits for understanding basic electric circuits to facilitate verification of the results obtained through the calculated results.

Function Generator
Function Generator

It is an electronic device that generates and delivers standard waveforms, normally sine and square waves, to a device under test. Tests are often used to determine if a design is working properly or if equipment is working as intended.

Cathode Ray Oscilloscope
Cathode Ray Oscilloscope

The Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO) is a common laboratory instrument that is used to measure voltage signals accurately over a range of frequencies. It is a reliable, stable, and easy-to-use laboratory instrument that can be used for a variety of purposes. CROs rely on cathode ray tubes as their core component.

Digital Storage Oscilloscope
Digital Storage Oscilloscope

The digital storage oscilloscope provides digital storage and analysis of the input signal, rather than analog analysis. With its advanced trigger, storage, display, and measurement capabilities, it has become the most common oscilloscope type.

Dual Power Supply
Dual Power Supply

A dual power supply produces two different output voltages from a single input source. The types and configurations of these devices are numerous. DC voltage outputs with different magnitudes and opposite polarity are the most common configuration.

Analog and Digital Multimeters
Analog and Digital Multimeters

An analog multimeter is a simple device used to measure voltage, current, and resistance. In the analog multimeter, there is a pointer that moves with the help of the magnetic field created by the change in electric current. The pointer displays the printed value scale on the screen according to magnitude of the voltage, current or resistance.
A digital multimeter is composed of complex components such as analog-to-digital converter, comparator, encoder, logic controller. The digital multimeter has a digital display for reading the measurement results. The measurement results are displayed on the screen in the form of numerical values.

Energy Meter
Energy Meter

The energy meter measures the amount of electrical energy consumed. During an hour, a load of one kilowatt hour consumes one kilowatt hour of energy, which is the most commonly used unit of measurement in electricity measurement.

Power Guard
Power Guard

Power guard or micropower monitor with smart two-pin socket that calculates power and energy consumption of appliances connected to it. The multifunction power meter works on 6A / 230V AC and displays voltage, current, power, power factor, frequency, KWh, CO2, and cost of operation.

Megger
Megger

The device can measure electric leakage in wire, and results are very reliable when electric current is passed through it while we are testing. This equipment is used to verify the electrical insulation level of devices, such as motors, cables, generators, windings, etc. Among the most popular tests, this one has been around for a long time. Rather than showing the exact location of the electrical puncture, it shows the current flow and moisture content within the affected equipment/windings/systems.

Live Wire Detector
Live Wire Detector

AC live wire scanner and stud finder app help you find hidden wires, metal objects and studs for fixing items for decoration or other work.

Resistive, Inductive and Capacitive Loads
Resistive, Inductive and Capacitive Loads

Load banks are available with resistive, inductive, and capacitive load elements. These are used to conduct the test for various type of loads.
