Day 1:
Session 1: Introduction to CFD and OpenFOAM
Mr. P. Balamurugan, from Einnel Technologies, Chennai, initiated the workshop with a comprehensive introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) principles and the powerful OpenFOAM software. Participants gained a foundational understanding of CFD concepts.
Session 2: Geometry Creation and Import
In the second session, Mr. Balamurugan guided participants through the process of creating and importing geometries into OpenFOAM. This hands-on session provided practical insights into working with complex geometries.
Session 3: Mesh Generation Techniques
Participants delved into mesh generation techniques in this session. They learned how to create grids and meshes to prepare for simulations. Mr. Balamurugan explained the importance of mesh quality in accurate CFD results.
Solver Overview and Selection
Concurrently with Session 3, Mr. Balamurugan covered solver overviews and the process of selecting the appropriate solver for different CFD problems. This crucial aspect of CFD simulation was thoroughly explored.
Day 2:
Session 4: Boundary Conditions
On the second day, the workshop began with a detailed discussion of boundary conditions. Participants learned how to define boundary conditions for their simulations, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Session 5: Hands-on Exercises on Simulating Fluid and Heat Flow Problems
The highlight of the workshop, Session 5, consisted of hands-on exercises. Participants actively engaged in simulating fluid and heat flow problems under the guidance of Mr. Balamurugan. This practical experience reinforced their learning.
Session 6: Post-Processing and Visualization
Following the simulation exercises, participants explored post-processing techniques to analyze and interpret simulation results effectively. Mr. Balamurugan emphasized the importance of data visualization in understanding CFD outcomes.
Session 7: Industrial and Research Applications
The final session of the workshop explored the wide-ranging industrial and research applications of CFD and OpenFOAM. Mr. Balamurugan shared real-world examples, inspiring participants to apply their newfound knowledge in various domains.
The workshop, led by Mr. P. Balamurugan, was an immersive and informative experience, equipping participants with valuable skills and insights into the world of Computational Fluid Dynamics with OpenFOAM.
