Summary

The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre organized a technical lecture on “Pre-Dispersed Graphene Additives for Industrial Decarbonization” in association with Department of  Chemical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore on 22nd February 2025. The technical lecture was delivered by the guest speaker Mr. Rohit Govindan, R&D lead, Terracarb, Coimbatore.

Dr G Madhan Mohan, Honorary Secretary, Chairman, IE(I), Coimbatore Local Centre gave the welcome and presidential address. Dr S Balasubramanian, Professor & HOD, Department of Chemical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology felicitated the event.                 

The session was delivered by Mr. Rohit Govindan, R&D Lead, Terracarb, Coimbatore, who shared valuable insights into the role of graphene-based additives in reducing carbon emissions across various industries. Mr. Rohit Govindan provided a comprehensive overview of pre-dispersed graphene additives, their unique properties, and their applications in enhancing energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and improving material performance in industries such as manufacturing, energy, and transportation. During his presentation, he emphasized: The structural and functional properties of graphene and its derivatives, Methods of pre-dispersion for enhanced efficiency in industrial applications, Case studies showcasing successful implementation of graphene additives in real-world industrial processes, The potential of graphene in carbon footprint reduction and circular economy practices.

The session was followed by an interactive Q&A segment, where students, faculty, and research scholars engaged in discussions on the scalability, challenges, and future prospects of graphene-based materials in decarbonization efforts.
