Office of Autonomous Affairs organized a Two days FDP on Teachers for New Gen Learners with SILT Approach on April 16 and 17, 2025 with the aim of equipping educators with innovative pedagogical strategies tailored to the needs and learning styles of new generation learners.. Prof. Dr. C. Muruganantham, Educational Consultant, M/s New Gen Learner, Chennai was the resource person for the event.
Day 1- 16.04.2025 Forenoon session was exclusively organized for all the Heads of the Departments in which he elaborated the taxonomy of siginificant learning, difference between Real learning and Rote learning, Factors influencing learning, Teachers and Parents role in imparting the learning in students, Higher order thinking skills and Transfer. Session was mainly focused on characteristics, challenges and expectations of modern learners.
Session 2 and Session 3 was organized for the faculty participants from various departments in which the following objectives were addressed.
1. To promote learner-centered pedagogy through structured and interactive methods.
2. To integrate technology into curriculum delivery effectively.
3. To encourage reflective teaching practices and peer learning.
Day 2 - 17.04.2025 Session begun with the hands on training for the faculties with the study guide material given by the resource person for the Engineering Graphics subject (Sample). Session on Technology Integration for Engagement was handled were in Tools and platforms for creating dynamic learning environments was discussed in the forum.
Outcome of the Event:
1. Faculty members gained practical insights into adapting their teaching styles for tech-savvy and participatory learners.
2. Participants successfully understood the knwoledge of developing lesson plans incorporating the SILT (Simple and Innovative Learning Technique) approach.
3. Increased awareness of using digital tools like LMS, interactive apps and collaborative platforms for enhanced learning outcomes.
Conclusion:
This FDP served as a timely initiative to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methodologies and the expectations of modern learners. With an emphasis on the SILT approach, the program empowered faculty to rethink and reshape their pedagogical strategies to create meaningful, technology-integrated, and learner-focused educational experiences.
