As part of the World Hypertension Day, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Student Chapter at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology organized a National-Level Quiz Competition on Hypertension. The event was conducted with the objective of increasing awareness and promoting a deeper understanding of hypertension often referred to as the "silent killer" among undergraduate and postgraduate students from biomedical and allied health sciences backgrounds.
The quiz was held in two competitive rounds, conducted entirely online to ensure maximum outreach and participation across the country. The first round took place on the interactive platform Quizizz, and comprised 25 objective-type questions that tested participants on fundamental concepts, including the pathophysiology of hypertension, diagnostic criteria, global health guidelines, dietary recommendations, and current preventive strategies.
The event garnered an overwhelming response with 250+ registrations from students representing multiple institutions across India. Out of these, the top 54 scorers were shortlisted for Round 2, which presented a more technical and clinically oriented set of questions. This final round challenged participants to apply biomedical concepts in analyzing scenarios related to blood pressure regulation, pharmacological interventions, and emerging technologies in hypertension management.
The quiz not only served as a knowledge-enhancing platform but also aligned with the objectives of World Hypertension Day 2025 by reinforcing the theme, “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.”
At the end of the competition, 11 winners were selected based on their overall performance across both rounds. These top scorers demonstrated exceptional knowledge, technical understanding, and quick analytical thinking in the field of hypertension and biomedical science. Their achievement was recognized with certificates and accolades, marking them as standout participants among over 250 contenders from across the nation.
