A half-day training session on STM32 with MATLAB/Simulink was organized for the students with the objective of enhancing their knowledge in embedded systems and model-based design. The session aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation using industry-relevant tools.
To introduce participants to the architecture and features of STM32 microcontrollers.
To familiarize students with MATLAB/Simulink for embedded system design.
To enable participants to develop and deploy real-time applications using STM32.
To provide hands-on exposure to hardware interfacing and model-based design.
The training session covered both theoretical and practical aspects, including:
Overview of STM32 microcontroller architecture and peripherals
Introduction to MATLAB and Simulink environment
Installation and use of STM32 hardware support packages
Interfacing STM32 with MATLAB/Simulink
Development of basic embedded applications (LED blinking, sensor interfacing)
Real-time data acquisition and visualization
Code generation and deployment on STM32 hardware
At the end of the session, participants were able to:
Understand STM32 microcontroller architecture and its applications
Use MATLAB/Simulink for embedded system design
Interface STM32 with MATLAB and perform real-time operations
Develop and deploy simple embedded applications
Utilize hardware support packages for peripheral control
Acquire and analyze real-time data
Apply model-based design techniques in embedded systems
The participants showed active involvement throughout the session. The hands-on component significantly improved their understanding of embedded system development. Students expressed interest in conducting advanced sessions on real-time applications and IoT integration.
