Originality Check Instructor Training, KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

The Library Committee, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, organized an “Originality Check Instructor Training” session on 20 August 2026 through Zoom, in association with Turnitin. The session was handled by Mr. Tuhin Choudhary, Onboarding Consultant – Customer Experience, Turnitin.

The training session was conducted to familiarize faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students with the effective use of Turnitin for checking originality, interpreting Similarity Reports, identifying plagiarism, and promoting academic integrity in research and academic writing.

Around 65 participants actively attended the session. The resource person provided a detailed demonstration and explanation of Turnitin features, including understanding the difference between plagiarism and text similarity, identifying expected similarity matches, interpreting Similarity Reports, and using Turnitin as a formative tool to improve writing quality. The session also addressed the appropriate use of generative AI in academic writing and the processes to be followed when plagiarism is identified.

Participants actively interacted with the resource person and clarified their queries and doubts related to Turnitin and originality checking. The session was recorded for future reference, enabling faculty members and researchers to revisit the training content when required. A feedback survey link was also shared with the participants to collect their feedback and suggestions regarding the session.

Overall, the training session was informative and interactive, providing participants with practical insights into the effective utilization of Turnitin and strengthening awareness of academic integrity and responsible academic writing practices.
