KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET) was established in the year 2009. The institution is promoted by KPR Group, a renowned business house in India with interest in Textiles, Wind Energy and Sugar. The main focus is to offer quality education to the younger generation to strengthen our Nation in the field of Engineering and Technology. The Institution is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, conferred with Autonomous status and accredited by NAAC with 'A' Grade. It is the one of the youngest institutions to acquire the most eligible accreditation by NBA (CIVIL, CSE, ECE, EEE and MECH).

Department of Mechanical Engineering established in the year 2009 offers an UG programme - B.E. Mechanical Engineering (Accredited by NBA) and a PG programme - M.E. CAD/ CAM. The department is recognized as research Centre for PhD Programme by Anna University. The department offers opportunities for education and research in a wide spectrum of areas in Mechanical Engineering such as Engineering Design, Materials and Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Robotics & Automation and Automobile Engineering. The department also contributes substantially towards organizing extension programmes such as conference, workshops, seminars, and symposia on the latest topics. The department has strongly motivated faculty with diverse specialization providing a potential for pursuing research in basic design as well as in interdisciplinary areas of science, engineering, and technology.

Technological advancements in materials and manufacturing for industrial environment (TAMMIE 2023) is a SERB sponsored international conference organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering at KPRIET on May 5th and 6th 2023. It aims to provide a platform for academicians, researchers, and industrial personnel to share the technological advancements in the field of engineering. It serves as a forum to present and discuss the latest innovations, trends, and practical challenges encountered in the relevant fields of engineering. TAMMIE 2023 welcomes original articles and reviews in the field of materials, manufacturing, and industrial automation.
