IEEE FOLDSCOPE Event Inspires Young Minds at Government Higher Secondary School, Arasur

On June 29, 2024, the IEEE KPRIET Education Society Student Branch Chapter (SBC) and the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of KPRIET Institute of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with the IEEE Education Society Young Professionals (YP) AdHoc committee, organized the IEEE FOLDSCOPE event. Held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Arasur, this event engaged around 120 students in a morning session from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The event focused on Foldscopes, affordable and portable paper microscopes, to foster curiosity and innovation through hands-on learning. Activities included an introduction to Foldscopes by Mr. Sai Prashanth, a hands-on workshop where students assembled their own Foldscopes, and an exploration of samples led by Ms. Sony Lingolo. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session.

The distinguished speakers, Mr. Sai Prashanth and Ms. Sony Lingolo, brought valuable insights and enthusiasm, encouraging students to explore scientific horizons. The event successfully stimulated interest in scientific inquiry and engineering, highlighting diversity and inclusion in STEM fields by actively involving girls.

The IEEE FOLDSCOPE event was a resounding success, celebrating curiosity and innovation while inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
