 “Language Teaching through ICT Tools”
The Covid 19 scenario has paved way for a paradigm shift in the teaching learning process. This shift demands upskilling of faculty members in ICT tools. Keeping this in mind, the Department of English in association with CFTIE organised a webinar titled, Language Teaching through ICT Tools on 30.08.2022. The resource of the webinar, Dr. Sudhakar Rao, Associate Professor of English, Balaji Institute of Technology & Science, Telangana, deliberated on the various tools that could be used by the Language teachers. A few of the tools recommended were wordhippo, kahoot, padlet etc. The resource person also highlighted content writing activities in social media to enhance the writing skills of the students. The webinar created a lot of insights on effective teaching methodologies using ICT tools. He insisted on the usage of right words at the right place in social media. He provided a hands-on training on the tools and also deliberated on the effective usage of the tools in the classroom. The session also highlighted the appropriate usage of tools based on the topic and outcome of the lesson. The resource person also mentioned the demerits of the ICT tools, if not used effectively. Faculty members must ensure that the students are not distracted while using ICT tools. He also specified that these ICT tools are handy in conducting Formative Assessments like Quiz, Open Ended Questions, Polls, Collaborative Board etc. Around 60 Professors from various institutions participated in the webinar. The webinar was very effective and fruitful for the faculty members.
