Summary
A Report on the One Day Seminar on HIDDEN GEMS ON CAMPUS
The anti-ragging cell of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology organized a Seminar on “HIDDEN GEMS ON CAMPUS”, on 20.12.2022.  The program started with Tamil Thai Valthu followed by KPR anthem. Prof. Dr. P.Geetha, Director/ Freshmen Programme introduced the resource persons Lt.Dr.J.Jegadheeshwararaj, Professor & Head, Forensic & Legal Medicine, Vice Principal, PSGIMSR and Mr.A.Sekar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore and also she explained the background of the seminar in her welcome address.  There were two sessions that dealt with varying aspects of central theme of the seminar. The resource person Lt.Dr.J.Jegadheeshwararaj has started the first session. The session started with questions about Anti Ragging, discipline of life and women empowerment. The students were very much interacted with our resource person. He has narrated the guidelines of UGC, Honorable courts and various welfare organizations to control the evil practices. The Second session started by Mr.A.Sekar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore. During the commencement of his speech, he started the lecture with a question, “Is our College, a ragging free campus?” and the answer from the gathering was “Yes”. And this has been followed by a few other questions relating to ragging like what is ragging? What makes students to engage themselves in ragging? and so on. Followed by the questions, he continued his speech, places where the ragging starts (Canteen, places where the students gather in colonies) and other related issues of any sort of ragging; staff have been on vigil which makes the campus ragging free. He mentioned in his speech that any kind of ragging has to be reported and the remedial measures/actions are to be carried out through various sections of Indian Penal Code, laws from UGC and various other ragging welfare organisations. The Anti-Ragging Cell program came to end with the vote of thanks by Students coordinators of this program. The seminar ended with National Anthem.
