Summary

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with SAE India organized an online webinar on "Fundamentals of Engine Performance and Emission Tuning” on 12-02-2022. Mr. P. Boobalakrishnan, Assistant Professor (Sr. G), welcomes the Gathering for the function. Dr. K. Ravi Kumar, Professor, Mechanical Engineering welcomes the Chief Guest. Mr. V. Aswinraj, Chief Guest, has delivered a wonderful lecture on "Engine Performance and Emission Tuning". In beginning of his speech, about basics of IC engine and its working. He also explained about the air intake mechanism, difference between carburetor and fuel injection. He explained with the help of graph about the importance of air fuel mixture ratio in performance of the engine. He explained about the turbo charger and how turbo charger plays its role in the emission of gases from the engine. Turbocharger helps in burning the fuel and increasing the performance of the engine while reducing the emission form it. Turbocharger increases the air intake to the engine and helps in burning more gases. So increase in air intake burns more fuel thereby increasing the performance and reduces emission. But further increase in the air intake to the engine reduces the performance of the engine. So it is suggested to maintain the air fuel ratio in an optimum level to have best performance and minimum emission
