VALUE ADDED COURSE FOR II YEAR MECHANICAL STUDENTS ON “PROTOTYPE DESIGN USING 3D PRINTING" , KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

Mr. P. Arunkumar, Assistant Professor (Sr.G), Mechanical Engineering, KPRIET, handled the sessions, and Dr.M.Kumar consented to be a guest speaker for a session. Around 17 students from II Year Mechanical Engineering attended the session. The resource persons have explained 3D printing, 3D scanning, and reverse engineering applications. They trained the students with a demonstration of FDM and DLP 3D printers. Also, they gave hands-on experience about 3D scanners with detailed post-processing steps.  Further, They interacted and clarified the doubts raised. The participants were so curious about learning 3D scanners and they are motivated to work further in the field of 3D Printing technology. The given below are the few areas of expertise in which he has demonstrated his skills.
·        3D Printing– Introduction
·        Additive Manufacturing Techniques
·        Demo on FDM 3D printer
·        Demo on DLP resin 3D printer
·        Introduction to 3D Scanner & Reverse Engineering
·        Demo on 3D Scanner and post-processing.
The main objective of this VAC is to get trained the students for the upcoming WorldSkills competition which will be led by Mr.P.Arunkumar in near future. In this regard, 3 such DIY printers will be bought for the hands-on experience for the trained students to get through with that to face the on-spot challenge/task that will be given in WSC 2023.
These students will be given a series of training on the hardware and software parts of 3d printing to meet out the entry qualification set by WSC. This will really be a great exposure for them.
