The guest lecture on design and protection of overhead transmission lines include the following topics:
1. Design of overhead transmission lines
2. Design of electric protection system to detect and discriminate all faults on the protected line.
3. The protection system must be able to clear faults very quickly, before the power system goes unstable.
4. The protection system must be dependable, and capable of clearing faults when any single piece of equipment has failed.
