DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF A DISTILLATION COLUMN IN DWSIM, KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

DWSIM is an open source free alternative to commercial steady state simulators like Aspen Plus. The resource person, Dr. Bharathi Ganesan, will introduce DWSIM, the component library of DWSIM and the typical workflow in steady state process simulation. Then a demonstration of creating a distillation column for steady state will be done. Finally, the elements needed for dynamic (variation with time) simulation such as valves and controllers will be added and explained on how to change the appropriate parameters. This will aid them to apply principles and concepts studied in U19CH601 Mass Transfer II.
