Summary
Department of Civil Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology conducted expert talk on “Prediction of Strength of Buildings using Machine Learning Techniques” on 18.08.2022. The main aim of this expert talk is to make the students to aware about the machine learning techniques for assessing structural performance of buildings that would help to do project using Machine Learning Techniques.
Dr.T.Palanisamy, Assistant professor, National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka gave a brief presentation on the beam column joint behavior during seismic forces. He has also interacted with students regarding the types of forces and moments expected during the earth quake forces. He also explained the machine learing concepts in Civil Engineering. He deliberated that Machine learning has been widely used in several civil engineering applications, and has become an efficient tool to solve complex engineering problem. Also, Artificial intelligence has been effectively applied to a variety of civil engineering applications, including prediction and risk management. Artificial intelligence used in Civil engineering is important in the construction, maintenance, and management of several components of civil infrastructure. Also, Data Science and usage of software's are commonly used in all fields of Engineering. Python is considered as one of the most important tool in the modern civil engineering construction works. He also motivated Civil Engineers to learn coding and other programmes to use the emerging techniques. Finally, he explained the Engineering Maths and Physics concepts in Civil Engineering field. Students actively participated and interated with the guest. Dr.T.Palanisamy interacted with the students and answered their questions.
