The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre, in association with the Department of Chemical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, successfully inaugurated the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) Student Chapter on 22nd February 2025. This significant event marked the beginning of a new academic and professional journey for students, providing them with a platform to engage in engineering advancements, networking opportunities, and industry-academic collaborations.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. S. Balasubramanian, Professor & HOD, Department of Chemical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology. The Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr. Rohit Govindan, R&D Lead, Terracarb, Coimbatore, officially inaugurated the chapter by unveiling the IEI Student Chapter banner and delivering an inspiring address on the role of engineers in shaping sustainable and innovative solutions for global challenges.
Dr. G. Madhan Mohan, Honorary Secretary & Chairman, IE(I), Coimbatore Local Centre, delivered the keynote speech, sharing valuable insights on the importance of professional organizations in the engineering field. The session was further enriched by a special address from Dr. A. K. Priya, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, who emphasized the significance of industry-academia collaborations and student engagement in research and innovation.
