A two-day value-added program on "IoT with Raspberry Pi" was successfully conducted for the second-year ECE students on 10.05.2025 and 12.05.2025. The primary objective of this program was to provide hands-on experience and practical knowledge on implementing IoT applications using the Raspberry Pi platform.Students were guided through the step-by-step installation of the Raspberry Pi Operating System. This session helped them understand the software setup, SD card preparation, and initial configuration of the board.
Participants learned how to interface various sensors such as temperature, humidity, and motion sensors with the Raspberry Pi. The session focused on GPIO programming, data acquisition, and real-time sensor data visualization.The program also introduced wireless communication between Raspberry Pi and ESP-based modules. Students configured ESP8266/ESP32 to communicate sensor data over Wi-Fi, enabling remote monitoring and control.They implemented a live video streaming system using ESP32-CAM and Raspberry Pi. This included camera configuration, IP streaming setup, and real-time video transmission over a local network.The final session integrated all components, enabling students to collect sensor data and monitor it in real-time via web dashboards or serial output. This gave them a complete perspective of a real-time IoT system.The program was highly interactive and application-oriented, encouraging students to explore real-world use cases of IoT in automation, surveillance, and smart systems. All participants showed great enthusiasm and actively engaged in hands-on activities throughout the session.This value-added initiative has enriched the students' technical skillsets and prepared them for future project work and internships involving embedded systems and IoT.
