The students would be able to develop a Mobile Application for the Android Operating System using XML and Java. Includes developing simple applications that could run on Android phones and tablets. It Covers Android application development phases, terminologies, application design, and coding. Prerequisites: CIS 122. Recommended: prior completion of or concurrent enrollment in CIS 133J

A Day Hands-on workshop on "Mobile Application Development" was conducted for ECE, EEE, and BME students at NMS Lab from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM. Android App Development Workshop mainly focuses on how to use Android OS for building your own Android Application. Only basic knowledge of programming is required for Android App Development, you do not have to be a geek for it. In that session, students learned how to develop simple android applications. The first app developed by students is to display a simple message. From this, they are familiar with how to create an app and run the app. The second app developed by students is to display the contents in the text box as simple text. From this, they learned how to use the components in the app development and also learned to code for that app. The third app developed by the student is simple addition calculation. The fourth app developed by students is a simple calculator. From this, they are very well trained in how to use android software for application development and writing code for the application. Students felt that this workshop on android mobile app development was very much useful for them and they got the basic idea for developing a mobile application. Students were also introduced to developing interesting mobile applications with the help of certain software. The students were also made aware of the emerging field and career opportunities available in the field of mobile app development. The workshop was well appreciated by the students.
