Outcome
To harvest the herbals from our KPR Herbal Garden
Summary
The major use of herbals is for health promotion and therapy for chronic, as opposed to life-threatening, conditions. So to create awareness on this, we have created "KPR HERBAL GARDEN" near the pathway to the Boys hostel. Our KPR Herbal Garden is being maintained properly from day one by our ECO warriors and KPR gardeners. This improved the good growth of herbs present in our garden. So we decided to do our first harvest. Harvesting is the operation of gathering the useful part or parts of the plant and is carried out at the time when all the nutrients have developed. The Eco Club of KPRIET SANGAMAM harvested the well grown herbals from KPR Herbal Garden. The main aim of this event is to actively involve our KPRIETians to grow herbal plants, to get yields from the herbal plants , to know the importance of each and every herbs and to know the role of the herbs in our good health. After the good growth of the herbs, we did our first harvest with the help of our ECO Club members, our faculty coordinator Dr. R. Saravanan and other faculties from Science and Humanities Department on July 16, we presented our first harvest to our beloved principal Dr. M. Akila. We have also used some herbs to extract the essence from it. From this, the students would come to know about the importance of growing our traditional herbs and their role in our good health. We harvested herbs like Karpooravalli Thoothuvalai Vallarai Insulin Lemon grass Pirandai
