The Biomedical Instrumentation laboratory is the core skill-based laboratory of the department of Biomedical Engineering. In this laboratory, the students were taught the basic skills necessary to operate, troubleshoot and maintain biomedical equipment used in the various departments of the hospitals and also the portable equipment that is used at home or other convenient locations. The Biomedical instrumentation lab is equipped with well-calibrated sophisticated equipment to measure the bio-signals. The bio-signals acquired in this lab are Electrocardiogram, Electroencephalogram, Electromyogram and Electrooculogram. Further, this laboratory also provides the necessary training for the students to custom-built amplifiers for various bio-signals. The customization involves the power supply options, the CMRR customization, the gain and more. In addition to these, the students were also taught how to measure various other physiological and non-physiological parameters of the human body. The laboratory sessions effectively emphasize the right use of the equipment, the correct placements, the possible trade-offs, the maintenance procedures and calibration if necessary.
