The workshop began with an overview of earthen construction history and its significance in sustainable building practices. Participants gained insights into different types of earthen materials, their properties, and environmental benefits. Detailed discussions were held on assessing material suitability for earthen construction projects. Factors such as soil type, moisture content, and stability were explored, with emphasis on selecting appropriate materials for different construction techniques. Er. J. Vijayakumar provided comprehensive guidance on rammed earth wall construction methods. Participants learned about formwork preparation, soil compaction techniques, and finishing processes. Practical demonstrations enabled participants to understand the key principles of rammed earth construction. The workshop included sessions on CSEB production techniques, emphasizing the use of stabilized earth blocks for sustainable construction. Participants learned about soil stabilization methods, block molding, curing, and quality control measures.
Outcomes :
Increased awareness of the environmental and sustainability benefits of earthen building materials and techniques.
Enhanced collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants, instructors, and industry professionals.
Participants expressed enthusiasm for implementing earthen construction methods in their future projects, contributing to sustainable development initiatives.
