The Department of Civil Engineering proudly hosted an online workshop on 'Sustainable and Lean Construction' exclusively for its Honors students. This enriching program, held as part of a collaborative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Marutham Group, featured Dr. S. Jeyachandran, Senior Vice President, as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Jeyachandran's insightful talk delved deep into the principles and practices of sustainable and lean construction. He equipped the students with knowledge on how to optimize resource utilization, minimize waste throughout the construction process, and design structures that are environmentally friendly. Interactive elements, like Q&A sessions or case studies, further enriched the learning experience by allowing students to engage with Dr. Jeyachandran's industry expertise.
The workshop extended beyond theoretical concepts, with a dedicated session exploring the availability of various sustainable building materials in the market. This valuable exposure empowers the students to make informed choices in future projects, contributing to a more sustainable construction industry overall.
This MoU activity served a dual purpose. It not only enhanced the Honors students' understanding of sustainable construction principles but also potentially fostered a stronger collaborative relationship with Marutham Group. This paves the way for future opportunities, such as student internships & industry research projects. The exposure to industry expertise and sustainable practices positions these Honors students to become future leaders in the field of environmentally conscious construction.
