Engineering Careers in the Public Sector, KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

The Career Advancement Cell (CAC) of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, organized an Expert Talk on “Engineering Careers in the Public Sector – Opportunities & Roadmap” in association with TAF IAS Academy and Department of Civil Engineering on 13 February 2026 at 10.00 AM in Ragam Hall.

The session was delivered by Mr. V. Ashokkumaran, Lead Faculty and Head of Department, TAF Engineering Services, who shared valuable insights on career opportunities available for engineering graduates in the public sector. The speaker elaborated on various competitive examinations such as Engineering Services, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and other government sector recruitment pathways. He also discussed the eligibility criteria, examination structure, preparation strategies, and the importance of consistent and focused preparation for aspirants.

The session aimed to create awareness among students about alternative career opportunities beyond placements and to motivate them to explore public sector careers and competitive examinations. Students who had expressed interest in Competitive Examinations and Higher Studies (Annexure B students) actively participated in the program. The talk also highlighted the significance of strategic planning, time management, and selecting appropriate preparation resources.

Students interacted with the resource person during the session and clarified their doubts regarding exam preparation, career progression, and opportunities available in different government sectors. The program provided a clear roadmap for students aspiring to pursue careers in the public sector.

Overall, the session was informative and beneficial for students, helping them gain clarity about public sector career opportunities and motivating them to pursue competitive examinations with a structured approach
