The Department of Civil Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, in association with the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), successfully conducted a Hands-on Training Session on “Engineering Behavior of Soils: From Laboratory Testing to Field Performance” on 05.05.2026 for II Year Civil Engineering students.
The session was facilitated by Er. Arivumathi, Senior Engineer, Covai Labs Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore, who provided valuable insights into laboratory soil testing techniques and their practical applications in geotechnical engineering projects.
Students actively participated in demonstrations and discussions related to soil classification, compaction, permeability, effective stress, and field performance of soils. Real-time engineering case studies and field examples helped students understand the importance of soil behavior in foundation design and construction practices.
The training session significantly enhanced students’ practical exposure, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of geotechnical engineering concepts by connecting classroom learning with real-world engineering applications.
