The Startup Boot Camp, held at KPR Business School, Coimbatore on 05.10.2026, took 90 MBA students from identifying problems to pitching business ideas in a single day. The resource person was Dr. S. Lakshmi Manokari, Periyar University, Salem.
Session | Type | Outcome |

Problem Discovery | Hands-on exercise | Students identified real-world problems faced by customers, communities and industries they know. |
Ideation (Brief) | Resource person presentation | Students learned methods to turn a problem into a workable business idea. |
60-Minute Ideation | Hands-on exercise | Each student developed a business idea addressing the problem they identified. |
90-Second Pitch | Student presentation | All 90 students pitched their ideas, six zones of 15 at the same time, and got direct feedback from faculty, senior and volunteer listeners. |
Discussion | Open discussion | Students clarified doubts and received suggestions to refine their ideas. |
Entrepreneurial mindset: Students started seeing everyday problems as business opportunities.
Self-awareness: The personal context audit helped students link their own strengths and networks to the ventures they could build.
Problem identification: Students practised finding and defining real problems before jumping to solutions.
Creative thinking: The timed ideation exercise trained students to produce and shape ideas under time pressure.
Pitching and communication: Students learned to present a problem, solution and value proposition clearly within 90 seconds.
Receiving feedback: Listener and expert feedback showed students how to test and improve their ideas.
The boot camp met its objective: all 90 participants identified a problem, developed a business idea and pitched it in one day. The zone-based format meant every student pitched and got feedback, rather than only a few selected teams. Promising ideas from the pitches can be taken forward through the institution's incubation or entrepreneurship cell for validation and mentoring.
