National Service Scheme at KPRIET

National Service Scheme (NSS) is a student-focused community service program that encourages students to contribute to society through social service, awareness programs, environmental activities, blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and community development initiatives. It helps students develop leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social awareness.

About NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 students in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, has many active NSS units functioning in the campus from its inception. The units coordinate and conduct various social service based activities. Students from NSS help the poor and the needy. Trekking camps are arranged for students through NSS to create awareness for the tribal. Students have adopted schools, health centres and check dams. They take care of its maintenance and make it eco-friendly.

NSS volunteers at the road safety awareness rally in Karumathampatti

Road Safety Awareness Program

“Road Rules, Life Tools”

Karumathampatti Village, Coimbatore

Our KPRIET–NSS Cell has conducted an Awareness Program on "Road Safety Starts With You – Road Rules, Life Tools" in association with the Tamil Nadu Police Department on 29.08.2026 at Karumathampatti Village, Coimbatore. The program was presided over by Mr. Navaneetha Krishnan, Police Inspector, who addressed the participants and the general public on the importance of following road safety rules and adopting responsible driving practices.

As part of the program, an awareness rally was organised by NSS volunteers to create awareness among the public about helmet use, seat-belt compliance, speed control, traffic rules and safe driving practices. The volunteers actively interacted with motorists and highlighted the importance of protecting themselves and other road users.

Solid Waste Management Awareness

“My Village, My Waste, My Responsibility”

Arasur Panchayat

Our KPRIET–NSS Cell has conducted an Awareness Program on "My Village, My Waste, My Responsibility" under the theme Solid Waste Management in association with Arasur Panchayat on 25.08.2026. Students and faculty members actively participated in the rally program and highlighted the importance of waste segregation, recycling, and maintaining a clean village. The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to keep the village clean and practice responsible waste management.

80th Independence Day Celebration

KPRIET Campus

Our KPRIET celebrated the 80th Independence Day on 15.08.2026 in the campus with great patriotic fervor. The event began with the flag hoisting ceremony followed by cultural programs. A special felicitation was held to honor NSS volunteers and faculty members for their excellent service towards the community. Their dedication and contributions were recognized and appreciated by the college management.
